Meet the Founder

RM.jpg

I, Rumaisa Mughal have 14+ years of product design and management experience, working on multiple award-winning creative solutions for 10+ million users. I am passionate about uncovering user insights and turning them into innovative products which explore a blend of design, technology and business. I love gathering perspectives through quantitative and qualitative data, and identifying patterns that explore new territories.

My focus is towards problem solving by means of design thinking, innovation and strategy. I am also an anime fanatic who tends to draw inspiration from even the mundane things around me. I thrive in challenging environments, and love working with interdisciplinary teams.

Over the course of my career, I have worn multiple hats varying from research, design, client interaction, project management and operations. Working in the tech sector, and running my own startup has given me ample insights and has strengthened my abilities further. In addition to my skill sets, I also bring her entrepreneurial vision and hustle to the table.

My Story

I was born in a small village in rural Pakistan, and I’ve seen adversity up real close. At 19, my parents told me they had enough money to send only one child to college and that would be my brother because well, he’s a boy (the never-ending patriarchy eh?). Luckily for me, I refused to accept that reality. I hustled, got a scholarship, worked 2 jobs and put myself through college.

Two years out of college, I quit a decently paying job (which was $300/mo at that time), challenged myself to come out of my comfort zone, and started my first company. Running my own company instantly enabled me to 10x my income! That was unthinkable even while I was living it! This enabled me to travel to North America and get a graduate degree. If someone had told me a few years prior that I, a young girl from a small village in Pakistan, won't just travel to the US but get an MBA from Silicon Valley, I wouldn't have taken them seriously to even laugh it off.

However, despite owning my own company, the journey was NOT easy, to say the least. There was too much uncertainty, almost no resources, and absolutely no support. Yet, I managed to graduate without any student loans only because I chose to take my financial and career decisions in my own hands.

My first company was nothing short of a wild roller coaster ride. Highs and lows, and too much ambiguity. I really didn't know any better. It took me a while to learn that ambiguity can be mastered, and being an entrepreneur doesn't have to mean not having a life, being stressed all the time, or not having time for loved ones. This single insight immensely empowered me and changed my entire life.

Now, with my second company, I want to help set others free. Especially other South Asian or immigrant women who often don't have the support, experience, or confidence to take this leap. If you are someone who recognizes her potential but isn't sure what exactly to do with it ... if you're someone who knows she can have a bigger better life but not really sure how, you're in the right spot. Let's chat :)
